Indescribable
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation's revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable - the title of a wonderful worship song by Chris Tomlin.
25th May 2007 - a day I was anticipating with total excitement for the past one and a half months. Today marks the launch of our adoption of the BESOM project, a community work project that gives us an opportunity to show Christ's love and shine for Jesus with no strings attached.
One and a half months ago, E & C and I were sipping cups of orange juice in my living room in our weekly meetup where all 3 of us felt a deep resonance in bringing our group to a higher and deeper level. Inside me, I knew my heart was restless as I felt God wanted to grow and move our hearts as individuals and as a group for the poor, needy, oppressed and those who desperately need Jesus, a hope! Since coming back from my mission trip, I believed God was showing me with different set of eyes the broken world right out here in the city of London. It was like each passing individual on the street, somehow makes me pause and ask a question if they know God, or if they have a need. I shared with E & C too as I felt that it was the "hot" time to share since we've just finished the entire month of March as a social concern month, and with Tearfund recently just at our church.
and you know...E & C are brilliant! They echoed my heart, and felt the exact same way! And you know, the more brilliant thing is that we seem to all compliment each other in so many ways as we lead the DCG together, thats why it has been so super fun!
I had already been exploring avenues with J whom had a great passion for this. So, BESOM was a project that J gave us and took over all the contacting and networking. After reading the proposal and the areas we could get involved, we unitedly felt in our spirit that our group could definitely benefit through this avenue. So...there we went....and decided to do it for end May so we had at least 1 month of time to tell people and share with the group..
BESOM has given us a target community in Hammersmith, and of course as with all things we want to start small. So today, the group is going to show love in various forms to one particular family on top of other odd jobs in the area like reconstruction of warehoues, gardening and painting. I;m excited for them as they go with God and with the mindset that everything about them, their actions, words and attitude is on show to this family. And as E rightly said, May we make Jesus and His church look great and give them a renewed hope!
The sunday prayer walks around Hammersmith truly captured a deep sense of passion and compassion to open our eyes, our physical and spiritual eyes to the call to be that light for him where we are, furthermore - communicating christ in london is our church's call isn't it? I was deeply encouraged to see those who were young in their faith come, and encouraged to know they prayed for the teens that ONE sunday ( now, thats another story!) In God's divine timing, before our very eyes we see how God has given us the wisdom in our decisions and responses to the kairos moments. Indescribable.
Incidentally, we have been putting a hold on our study on Revelation and felt a strong need to instead do SHAPE after Easter to integrate people within church and to discover their spiritual gifts, potential for the Kingdom. Thru these sessions, we saw the openness in sharing and learning, growing together. Realising just how important it was for us to see us as God sees us, and believing that we have kingdom purpose to fulfil, and not necessarily just in church but outside church. God touched us with a great bang after every session where we see many lives including my own just being ministered to in prayer and worship by the Spirit, fellow leaders and cell mates. It was like a fresh anointing that was impacting our lives, bringing us to wet eyes, bent knees and brokenness. Indescribable.
The sermons on sundays have been encouraging us to develop our prayer lives, both privately and corporately these past few weeks - fantastic anointed preaching, and what a true example of leadership when Pastor challenges us to pray on our knees as a congregation! There was something different - a deep sense of God, and refreshment. In response to what has been preached over the pulpit, our DCG spent an entire Friday night informing ourselves of things we can pray for in the world, reading in scripture and building our understanding of the God we are praying to, and inviting the Holy Spirit to inspire and help us to pray even gearing up to the Community Project - to truly experience PDA lifestyle and to walk in it! The strong sense of unity was indescribable...and people felt they could continue all night in that attitude and posture - standing in the gap! God showed me that prayer can move communities, and pray definitely brings the people of God closer in a bond that is so precious!
As I reflect on how God was taking us step by step as a group, I am awestruck by the wonder of the process he has been taking us through. The outpouring unto us in our inward lives, and preparing us through all different means, even to the extend of changing our entire cell programme for this term has been a significant journey of faith and obedience with the Master. These past month and a half has been phenomenal in experiencing just how big God is, and His power.
Well...guess I can sulk and see it as a miss opportunity for me not being able to do it with them. Nonetheless, I am excited for them and encouraged to see how much prayer, and personal prep has gone into this! Indescribable.
Ah, 25 May 2007....is here!
On a side note, my spiritual dad sent me an amazing reflection after Jackie Pullinger shared at his church. Great timing, and was what i call a gem of a moment.
His closing words from his reflections were exactly what I have been meditating on in my quiet time about God, as an Incarnate Being. Wow.
I am not at liberty to share his reflections as I haven't asked his permission but I believe you will be just as blessed listening to Jackie Pullinger as all of us have been at http://fcbc.org.sg/faith_sermons.asp and also the seminar video streaming of her ministering to the poor conference sessions at http://www.fcbc.org.sg/service_news.asp?newsID=190
May we all know God's call to serve those who are needy and oppressed...and know His heart for them!
