There is a time for everything...
There is a time appropriate to laugh out loud and for so long that you have trouble drawing another breath. Then, there is also a time to cry, to fell deep hurt and pain in the soul. And there's a time to jump up and down, moving all around. Or perhaps, you're more reserved in your emotions and less expressive. That's cool too.
In the past 3 months, I have had seasons of being in all those different times.
And God made clear to me that yes indeed, there is a time for everything..but that's not all...He goes on to say that He makes everytime so beautiful in His time. Scripture got it spot on.
The point is, there is a time for everything and a place for every kind of person and personality in the body of Christ. And this is especially important for us when we are in the business of serving God, where we are involved in a particular ministry.
Someone told me perhaps jokingly, I am one of a kind. Without thinking much, I took that as a compliment. I felt it was important for me to recognise that yes, it is actually God who has made me and he definitely made me "one of a kind", every part of me - uniquely while I was still in my mother's womb (Psalm 139 v 13-16).
Like a skilled surgeon, God stayed with me throughout the entire operation of my creation. And as a result, His fingerprints are all over me. I am his workmanship - his poem. "Workmanship" is from the Greek work "poiema" (also a Michael Card song!) from which we derive the word "poem". His poem. His work. Handcrafted. An original.
But it doesn't end there....
A good surgeon or doctor does not just perform the operation or see the patient once. He thinks of his patient. He sees and checks up on how his patient is doin after an operation. Our God doesn't just make us. He extends that added care to us physically, mentally and temperamentally. He doesn't just cast us aside after He creates us.
He is constantly thinking about you and me....And He is still working in us...everything is a process..
How do you know someone is thinking of you? How do you know God is thinking of you?
Psalm 139 v 17-18
How precious concerning me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.
So, next time you are at the beach or if you are at construction site, pick up a handful of sand. Then take a pinch out of that and try to count the number of them. You may get frustrated, exasperated in the process OR you may begin to appreciate how much and how often God thinks of you.
You are unique. You are set apart. You are appointed for a purpose and a mission.
