For He is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think
~Ephesians 3 v 20~
Heading off to Fatima tomorrow with a team of 10 people from my church, and also my dear sister who by God's hand and timing decided to take 2 months off work. Has been good having her here the last week, and what more the coming weeks ahead of great sisterly adventures to come. We've already had one day of XBOX-ing on Halo 3 :). So much for bonding!
Well, as we prepare our hearts for Fatima in the week of the native religious Pilgrimage of the city, I pray God will open our eyes to see, and our hearts to be sensitive to all that is happening there. Been reading on it, and doing some research - alot of people theme this place, and especially this season as the modern day city of Sodom and Gommorah. Why? Namely because of the growing promiscuity of the immorality, lack of values and in a sense even wickedness in the city. I read Genesis 18 this afternoon, and I pray we too can be like moses as well and intercede for the people of this land.
I would appreciate pray for protection and guidance as we take God and His truth to them, to be a light that shines in the darkness that surrounds the place. Indeed, it is a spiritual ground.
Fact file is to the notch that there is only 1 evangelical church present in this city, and the rest well, its mainly catholic (yet these are the ones that some say are where the beginnings of the immorality originate) I am really sadden but yet God is speaking a REAL and POWERFUL word to me : Grace - to be magnanimous in my spirit and disposition.
I know our team's desire is to also encourage the local saints and the remnant few there who are that beacon of light in that city. I'm personally really excited as we're going TOGETHER as a team from CCIL - think its going to be an amazing shared journey we can definitely testify about. Good exposure! More amazingly, I'm looking forward to going on my first mission trip with my sister - now, that's a wow! I believe in faith God has great gems to deposit in our lives personally and in our relationship too!
Do cover us in prayer - From London to Lisbon to Fatima to Porto to London!!
Well -- so aside from the yummy Portuguese tarts that await me in Belem, this is what I signed up for the next 2 weeks on this Short Term Mission...
The force is with us :)
